Private yoga lessons aren’t just for celebrities.

I teach private yoga classes to clients who range from teenagers to those receiving AARP mailings to a few celebrities who are regular lovely people. My main clientele are GenX and GenX adjacent.

Whoever you are, working with me one-on-one means we customize each lesson to help you move smarter and maximize your mobility, so you feel good, heal, and remain injury-free. Sessions happen online via Zoom or in-person (in the Pasadena area).

Private yoga instruction is ideal for you if:

  • You’re a busy professional or entrepreneur who doesn’t have the time or inclination to attend a public yoga class

  • You’re a parent who is struggling to carve out restorative (and necessary) “me” time

  • You’re recovering from an illness or medical procedure and know that gentle movement and intelligent strength building is just what your body craves to heal more efficiently

  • You’re an amateur athlete who wants to enhance athletic performance, prevent sports injuries, and decrease recovery time between trainings or events

  • Your life feels anxious and stressful and you’re ready to slow down and integrate a yoga mindset into how you approach personal or professional challenges

  • You’re navigating a big transition (such as retirement, new career, relocation, or an “empty nest”) and desire to reconnect with yourself so the next life chapter feels on purpose

  • You’re motivated to change habits that have weighed you down for far too long

Let me help you turn even the most hectic home or busy office into a sacred space for yoga.

With me by your side, you’ll build a positive and nurturing relationship where real transformation can occur. I have deep knowledge of classical yoga, anatomy, and biomechanics which means private lessons are specifically designed for your needs—with appropriate modifications, sequences and poses to help bring your body into a state of optimal health and balance.

You DO have the space at home to do this. I can help you find that place of ease and calm.

  • See positive physical changes much quicker than if you only practice in a large group class.

  • Ask all the questions you want.

  • We’ll take as much time as we need to address your concerns and break down poses or practices that benefit you.

  • I understand medical terminology and can read medical reports. My experience helping students with a wide range of injuries and conditions gives me a deeper compassion and ability to help.

  • We’ll focus on the philosophical teachings and practices that will support you the MOST right now.

  • Your practice needs will evolve and we’ll honor that in every lesson.

  • My personal experiences juxtaposed with my athleticism make me a great teacher for many people. Yoga helped me thrive and heal through infertility, two years of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, two bouts of frozen shoulder, scoliosis, epilepsy diagnosis as an adult, musculoskeletal injuries from a car accident, and recovery from an eating disorder years ago.

  • Private yoga sessions lovingly hold you accountable to your practice. I will keep your timeslot sacred and will be there at the same time every week to support you.

  • Because my focus is completely on you, I can use my intuition and knowledge to create sessions that meets you where you are on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels, with no planning or advance notice required.

Do you need an energizing practice? More restful? Is your mind extra chattery? Are you in pain? Do you need a massage? Have you been under strain or trauma? Are you feeling depleted? I’ll make sure your practice is customized to accommodate the flow of your life.

Additional specialties for personalized yoga lessons:

I regularly work with students in tandem with prescribed medical treatments. I’m also partnering with a neuroscientist at Caltech—conducting research on a particular aspect of yoga and its relationship to mental health.

Gwen was very patient and calming as I slowly learned to listen to my breath, follow my instinct, and to go to my edge rather than beyond. Her approach is nothing like what I expected, and it has really turned into something highly unique to me and my personal needs on a session-by-session basis.

I’m now able to sit on the floor on my knees with no problem, and can easily get right back up.

Plus my wife says I now have a butt.
— Damon | Altadena CA
  • “I used to be a fairly athletic guy, but life just got in the way after having a family. When I started yoga with Gwen, my knees were sore, I had an old shoulder injury, back & hip pain from years of commuting, and a general lack of flexibility or tone. I remember telling Gwen I just wanted to be able to sit on the floor, knees folded underneath me again.

I had attended one or two group yoga classes over the years and enjoyed the general feeling I had, yet it was never enough to get me to attend regularly. I'm pretty sure I told Gwen I wasn't in good enough shape to exercise regularly, and that was what prevented me from exercising regularly... we'd cemented our relationship with a laugh from the start.

I'll spare the narrative on the sweat, pain, and frustration that initially plagued my mental hurdles in trying this new thing. The old competitive, can-do-it-must-push-through was challenged from the start.

Gwen was very patient and calming as I slowly learned to listen to my breath, follow my instinct, and to go to my edge rather than beyond. Her approach is nothing like what I expected, and it has really turned into something highly unique to me and my personal needs on a session-by-session basis.

I'm now able to sit on the floor on my knees with no problem, and can easily get right back up.

Our practice crosses the gamut from therapeutic, restorative work to a focus on me enjoying that athleticism I once thought I'd never regain. With the strengthening and coordination we've also been able to decrease pain and bring relief and balance to old injuries. Most of all, our sessions are fun because Gwen has a wicked sense of humor. But she stays focused on the session, and respects that personal focus time she knows is good for me. Very much the master, and I am eternally grateful.

And my wife says I now have a butt.”
